What kind of person do you want to be?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 07, 2008:
I think I must want to be the kind of person who can't be defined as some particular kind of person. I mean, I aspire to all those lovely qualities we probably all want - being kind, having integrity, being authentic, you know, all the good stuff. But that doesn't define a "kind of person". And that phrase seems to me like a self-conscious, posed place to be, to decide what kind of person I am instead of just living my life and being whoever I am and become along the way. If I think about describing someone else as "the kind of person who..." it feels like I'm making them much smaller by doing that, limiting my experience of them to the size of my labels and assumptions. I don't want to do that to my experience of my own life. This is another one of those I-don't-think-this-way questions.

Hi Rapunzel,
I kind a really really like your reflection on today's questione & very much the notion
that when coming here I am not likely to run the risk of accidently being put in a box.

Thank you rapunzel. i appreciate your place to stand, i stand there as well. i find that labels and classification and their names are quite limiting. Example: Somebody can be “nice” and it is all sweet and sappy, not something i aspire. Someone can be” open” but does that mean they are open to everything? If so, i pass.
Besides, we are very complicated and a person can be a contemplative, athlete, shy and talkative all at the same time, not traits that often ate bundled together.thank again for sharing your thoughts.peace, michael
aha!! you are THAT kind of person, are you??? hmmmm…..
I'm glad you are answering all the questions – even the “I don't think this way” questions. you never, ever know who you might inspire to think a different way, by answering YOUR way.
you always make me think.
gracias mamacita…. I know— you're the kind of person who eats at THOSE kind of restaurants on Cinco de Mayo, aren't you? mmmmhhhmm. I know the kind. :-)
